Prof. Andrew Levy of Technion’s Rappaport Faculty of Medicine discovered the reason why certain persons with diabetes develop heart disease, kidney problems, blindness and why other persons don’t. He has also developed a patented blood test that can detect if a person suffering from diabetes has the bad form of the Haptoglobin gene and will most likely develop complications. But just telling someone that they may develop the deadly complications is not enough, Levy has also found out how to they can be helped.
