Project Daybreak

Project Daybreak is a unique grassroots program that was formed as a result of the close relationship between the Anglo – Olim community of Nofei Aviv and the Ethiopian – Olim community of Beit Shemesh. The creation of Project Daybreak was through the concept of neighbors helping neighbors.

Project Daybreak is led by an optometrist from New York who moved to Bet Shemesh. He realized the Ethiopian community was being lost to the streets of the city. Now the program consists of tutoring students and bringing them the full realization of the dream that they have returned to the Holyland for a purpose. Giving them a sense of import these children now see the urgency of giving back to the next generation of children. All with the distinct

purpose of propelling them out of harms way and into an informal educational program that heightens their self worth.

Project Daybreak prides itself in that it is NOT a charity organization. Beit Shemesh has a wonderful organization that helps the economically depressed Ethiopian community. We concentrate strictly on educational advancement as the key to their success as productive citizens of the State of Israel. Our goal is to impact the economic development, and economic self-sufficiency of the next generation of the Ethiopian immigrants. We do this by stressing and reinforcing the concept of education as a means to succeed in a western civilization while maintaining, enhancing and taking pride in a new-found Jewish Identity.

Allow this amazing program to reach more children. Support Project Daybreak.
